Sunrise at Snoqualmie

The Pacific Northwest has no shortage of photogenic locations - if you're tired of your own neighborhood and looking for something to spice up your photos, a location shoot is definitely it!

For this session we decided to take advantage of some beautiful local scenery and headed out to Snoqualmie Falls. On the coldest morning ever. (Okay, well, cold for here anyhow - we could see our breath!) At the crack of dawn. (Or 9am, but who's counting?) Seniors are busy busy, and we'll take whatever window of time we can get!



We started down in the valley, but at the bottom of the falls, morning light was hard to come by. We had a blast hopping from one giant rock to the next, seeking out good locations - and Roxanne braved the cold like a champ. See? You can barely see her teeth chattering or her hands freezing from the ice cold rocks. Next time, I think we'll bring hot chocolate.



Roxanne, it was a blast! And now that you're back from Florida, you can relive the cold in all its splendor. :O)

Bubblicious

I mentioned before that spring has come very early this year. In fact, apart from two weeks of below freezing temps in December, we kind of just skipped winter.

So that means February is as good a time as any to break out the bubbles!







This was before Daylight Savings and the sun was setting fast.



We're scheduled now for another straight week of rain, after which I think bubbles will be more than welcome again. Can't wait!

Glowing Mama

Please meet Lauren and her beautiful belly:

Usually it's easiest to do maternity portraits a month or two before the mother is due - moms still have a bit of energy and have an easier time getting around. But this family has been quite busy completing a remodel before the baby comes. Lauren was due one week after these photos were taken and it didn't seem to phase her one bit!

She even has this charmer to look after, and somehow makes it seem effortless.

Aiden is such a sweetheart, and if you ask me, he's going to make a wonderful big brother!

Six wonderful months

Little Miss Emily here turned six months old on the very day I came over to take her photographs. Half a year of enjoying this wonderful planet, half a trip around our sun.

I'm sure I'm not the first to say it (or the last!), but Emily landed in a home that's just bursting with love, and it was a treat to capture it all.



With international parents, Emily gets to experience everything in Swedish and English. Oh, and did I mention they have their very own sauna? Lucky (x2)!



Emily was in a wonderful mood when we started out and then as it got closer to her nap time, we took it slower so she could have some time to regroup with Mom and Dad. Baby cuddles never get old.



She has quite the set of edible toes, though I never got to catch her eating them on camera. She does the cutest thing where she rubs them back and forth on each other. My own daughter had a rendition of that when she was a newborn, so we dubbed her cricket - I was so sad to see her outgrow it. I think it's adorable that at six months, Emily's toes are still as captivating as they ever were.



Emily, what a treat it was to meet you on such a significant day. I hope your next six months are just as wonderful.

An afternoon with O

Introducing... little Baby O and his stunning mama!

I spent the most wonderful afternoon photographing this delightful pair with Jennifer Finch at her home studio.

Newborns are absolutely fascinating, especially when they are in their quiet-alert state, intently studying faces and reaching out to touch.

At two weeks, this little man was a hungry hippo and we took lots of snack breaks. Doesn't he have the cutest frog belly when he's full?

....and let's not forget his wiggly little toes. We took a poll, and unanimously agreed that he has the most adorable little feet. Who can resist?

Another Day in Paradise

Remember the gorgeous weather we had here? Well, I had the good fortune to have another family to photograph the same day.

Meet Thomas, a fine young man I have had the pleasure of knowing since before he was born. He's a regular here. I had the privilege of photographing his entrance into the world and he's been in the limelight ever since.



Thomas is about to turn seven months old and has a whole wide world to explore. No time to nurse and you can forget naps, he's got to see everything and do everything.



Lucky for his mama, he's not too busy to pause for snuggles while he's being worn. It's definitely a great way to see the world!





The curiosity drive in this little one is definitely going to keep his parents on their toes.

Sunny Winter Day

This week in the Seattle area, we are experiencing some absolutely gorgeous weather for February - 60s and sunny! What luck that I had two beautiful ladies to photograph during this little taste of spring.

Meet Alta and Auna-Joy.



Auna-Joy has the most beautiful curly eyelashes and a smashing personality to match.





She could not possibly have a more perfect name, since it is clear just how much joy she brings to everyone around her. Alta was radiant the entire time, savoring an afternoon spent in the sunshine with her baby. (Plus, we had real duckies to entertain us!)



I couldn't resist getting a shot of her adorable belly chub and even though it wasn't one of Auna-Joy's smiliest days, I still got a peek at her new top teeth, too. Thanks, ladies, I had such a blast hanging out with you in the sunshine!
